Gifts

I received many gifts today. From the ASC, and Maths teachers. 2 from Mrs Tan (Miss Chen) which was pretty helpful;I had no desire to overspend on recess today. And the other was this Thank You Card from Mrs Tan (Hui Shan) with some...candy. So here's a photo of the loot. And as she read out one of my memos (they're useful) in class, I thought I should do the same with her letter.

Jun Wen

Thank you so much for your help as my maths representative this year. I must say, you are really a dedicated and responsible student who display (sic) a remarkably high level of initiative. I really appreciate your help!
All the best for your coming SA2 exams, study hard!
Mrs Tan HS

"Dedicated and responsible";"high level of initiative"...I can only hope that is really the case for me.

"who display" Nah, I'm fine with the little niggling error.
"appreciate your help!"; "All the best", why thank you.
Well, a keepsake for my 1st Andersonian year is not anything I'm against. So thanks, Mrs Tan(s)! (Mrs Tan Hui Ping & Mrs Tan Hui Shan)

Yes, I've changed quite a bit from the person you may have once known. I'm more logical, just as unusual (but not crazy) and perhaps a little more cruel.  And yes, I'm alive. This should be proof enough.

A quick one: I'm still alive. I've just been busy and lazy at the same time. Perhaps you'll see more of me around soon.

Anderson IV

Andes holds an annual New-Year celebration by holding a 3.2 km run/walk at Macritchie Reservoir.Sounds fun?(Hint:No)
I would go into the details, but time is murder in secondary school so let's just say the trail was a wet, cramped and seemingly endless run.I finished before 30 min though.Yay.
I put Choir as my 1st choice for CCAs.It's not too time-wasting and it's easy to get points. And I can be with my Primary & Secondary Seniors and Classmates. It's a real grab-it.
Science and Literature have nasty projects that we have to deal with.It isn't fun,no.Not at all.
Aw,darn.I have yet to research on Literature.Should have left blogging for later.
School has been hectic, and 15 pieces of homework (each at least 5 questions) is madness.I guess I have to,ahem, adapt to this environment.

Anderson III (must read)

This Monday,we had 2 hours of Home Economics. The result?Prata. With some chocolate syrup (strange) on it.There were also the much awaited computer lessons today.Microsoft Word was the main subject.
Here's the rundown on Science Online homework submissions:Submit on Sunday.Last day is Wedesday.Every late day causes you to lose 30% of your marks. When given back to you on Friday, you can re-submit it AGAIN after editing the text, getting up to 25% of your original score as extra credit.
Now that the boring stuff is out of the way,let us move on:CCAs.
We had CCA screening on Wednesday. The class was split into boys and girls and we went our separate ways.
1.Basketball (B)

We had to dribble near the net and shoot after taking up to 2 steps holding the ball.I failed.(Shoot!{double meanings here}---Me)
2.Military Band (MB)

We had to repeat after a tune and we also had to clap according to how a member of MB did.I failed.(I never had an intention to join the Band, but I didn't have to fake ignorance in the test---voice breaking did the trick.---me)
3.Soccer (S)
Dribble around a few cones and back, then do it again over a longer route.Epic Fail here.(Hey,come back!---Classmate Ivan when his ball rolled 3 meters of course.
4.Volleyball (V)
Part 1:Dig well enough to catch the coach's attention.I passed.(This house of balls is one serious madhouse.---me)
Part 2:Dig and spike (smack) well enough to catch the V staff's attention.Failed.(Yay:I failed.---me)
5.Choir (C)
Sing Doh Ray Me etc voices according to the coach.I actually passed.Amazing,really.(You've got a beautiful voice, really! Why didn't you think of choir as your CCA choice?---Coach after inquiring about my CCA choice)
6.Drama (ATC---Anderson Theater Circle)
My goal.And I passed.YAY!(Guns blazing.---me,during performance)
Group1:Not my concern.Script:
A clown was preparing his long forgotten trick---tightrope walking. As he shows off,he begins to climb.Fear soon take over as he gains altitude. At the top,he picks his balancing...err...stick?Aid?Whatever.Then he walks. As the crowd soon gets bored,Clownie does some tricks and NEARLY,but really didn't,fall. Some classmates fell and were most likely given a bad mark.Scared,Clownie dashed through the rope at record speed but in the end,all is well.
Group 2:The group I was in.Greater detail will be given here.Script:
MC:Welcome to the annual master chefs cooking competition!
(cheers)
MC:Let our chefs Now introduce themselves and what they will cook.
Jun Wen:This is Jun Wen here,YO!I'll be cooking you some lobster Supreme.Give it a look and I'll bet your mouth'll water!
(other intros,coach looks at me)
MC:Alright, shhhh!Focus is needed for you have only 45 minutes to cook your best dishes.Now....COOK!
(Different actions are performed. Some knead dough, some stir-fry rice, and I oven and knead some ingredients.I also fry the ingredients.Other actions like cutting of "veggies" were also performed by me.I could see a few other of my classmates who were even decorating their dishes!)
MC:If all is well, you may decorate your dishes now.
MC:Now,the Judges will go around, tasting all of the dishes and coming up with the winner!
(My classmates and I show off.)
MC:And the winner is....................right after a short break!
(I silently groan:I hate it when that happens.)
Most of my classmates said I did well but I really don't know.
It was fun in all,but its a pity we get to experience it once.Oh well.
P.S.Do remember the abbrevations for some of the CCAs as they might be mentioned again.

Anderson II

Oh no.Another hectic day.And studies have yet to begin!
I was exploring more Anderson today (mostly cos' of the "Heritage Walk") and my arms and legs were given workouts.
Now,to the "Heritage Walk":A little activity that in short, lets you see the exciting segments of Anderson Secondary School(an underground bomb bunker, for example),causing us to run around the school.
Classrooms are often locked during recess and so there are no prefects in the school.Slightly offensive humor was also running through my class.("You better get the he11 out or I'll slap you in the @$$ end of your fishing (*******, that is) d@mn fa- "{laughs}-----an OGA (Orientation Group Assistant))    ("What's that smell in the hall?"  "Yo (your) momma (mother) by the stink of it."-----2 of my classmates having a "friendly" chat.)
I have no idea of what's wrong with them. But overall,OGA's are bitesized fun-packs.Who you get paired up with is like an OGA grab-bag:My class,1/2 (say wan-too) had a lucky 7 OGAs,all of which are overall nice unless you seriously piss them off.
We needed to rehearse for campfire night (2 days away, bad) and Induction ceremony(an Anderson rite to "let"students be "true Andersonians") (tommorrow, indifferent).
Lessons start on friday though:I have to brace myself.

Anderson

So I was dragged to Andes.(I'll refer to Anderson as Andes from now on)Anderson is at least a decently good school, and its quite nice, really. Then comes the BIG problem.
Anderson's toilets stink!(figuratively and literally)It didn't help that the doors of our toilets wouldn't lock AND are half broken. No love was given to the sinks either.Prince The Principal was telling us about a broken sink.Last year in Andes, concrete chunks fell out!
I think my sec school toilet life will be he11.
But I'll also say,I WILL say,that Anderson isn't a bad school.Pity I only know 4 people's names in my class,1/2:Xin Zhong,Edwin,Jasmine(former 6F classmate!) and Marcus.
I hope things get better eventually. How was YOUR secondary school?Chat about it in the talkback comments!
